Well it's official: our first "fruits of our labor" have arrived! We purchased a medium sized strawberry plant about a month ago and planted it in a large whiskey barrel. Man oh man is it happy there - it's grown about twice the size and has 7 strawberries! A couple of them are turning and this one was ripe enough to eat yesterday!! The saying that homegrown fruits and veggies taste 10 times more amazing is true. It was sweet and juicy and the perfect size. Thankfully there are more on their way because man was it a tease to only share one!
